ASAL eXtension recently collaborated with WHO Kenya and Zero Media on a vital short film project in Kajiado County. This film is part of a broader initiative by WHO to raise awareness on first aid for dog bite wounds they will support Kenya’s goal of achieving zero deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
Our role involved working closely with key local partners, including the Kajiado County One Health Committee, CDVS Kajiado, the Kajiado North Veterinary Officers, Ongata Rongai Sub-county Hospital, and the Nakeel Primary School head teacher, drama teachers, and students. We also extend our gratitude to Nkaimurunya Chief Esther, who graciously provided office space and ensured security for our teams.
This collaboration facilitated not only the successful door-to-door rabies vaccinations of 186 pets (133 dogs and 53 cats) but also the distribution of crucial rabies awareness resources, including 150 posters, 1000 booklets, and 1000 flyers. By supporting this educational film, direct vaccination efforts, and the dissemination of awareness materials, ASAL eXtension is proud to make a significant contribution to public health and animal welfare in the region. We are grateful to the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) for supporting the development and distribution of the rabies awareness resources.
In 2025, we will have supported Kajiado County in:

543 dogs and 98 cats will have been vaccinated
