Dr. Pauline Gitonga is a veterinarian with dryland natural resource management training. Pauline worked for 10 years as a Clinician and Tutorial Fellow at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi. She has since transitioned to the role of a dryland livestock health and production consultant, a role she has held for the last 5 years. Her key strengths lie in the ability to bridge the gap between research and development. Her areas of expertise include animal health, livestock product value chain analysis, participatory rangeland resource mapping and operation research using qualitative and quantitative techniques. She is also an experienced rapporteur and facilitator for technical workshops and has proven abilities in conducting baseline, mid and end term evaluation of DFID, EU and USAID donor projects. She also collaborates to offer on job professional training for public sector veterinary staff as well as develop disease control strategies and livestock disease identification, diagnosis and control manuals.
Dr. Alice Ruto has over 20 years of practical experience in the areas of dryland crop production, agricultural extension and community development through Farmer/Pastoral Field Schools. She has extensive experience in setting up on-farm water harvesting techniques for crop and pasture production in Eastern and Northern parts of Kenya. Alice also has extensive experience in developing policies and strategies for the agriculture sector in Kenya. Her strengths lie in transferring scientific knowledge and technologies to farmers and livestock keepers.
